Edwin Peterson III

Edwin Peterson III age 82 of Nahant, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday. February 16, 2026. He was husband of Eileen (Alessi) Peterson, with whom he had shared 36 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Edwin and Phyllis E. (McClain) Peterson. He was raised in Nahant and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1961. He had lived in Swampscott and Nahant for his entire life.

He had served in the MA National Guard in the mid 1960's, served the Town of Swampscott as a Police Officer in the 1970's and 1980's and then worked from 1990 until his retirement for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue in the Child Support Division.

He was a former coach for the Swampscott Little League and Babe Ruth teams, and umpire for the Nahant softball league, and later in life he took to playing golf in the Wednesday Night Men's League at Kelley Greens.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons; Eric Peterson and his wife Tracy of Nahant, Keith Peterson and his wife Michelle of Columbia, South Carolina, and Edwin J. Peterson and his partner Jessica of Nahant, a brother William Peterson and his wife Linda of Nahant, and four grandchildren; Tyler, David, Kasey, and Ryann Peterson. He was also the brother of the late Elizabeth Peterson Palmer and was also predeceased by several close members of the Alessi Family.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2:00PM-6:00PM in the Solimine Funeral Home 67 Ocean St., Lynn. Following cremation, a Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11:00AM in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant.
