Edwin "Bing" Prestridge

Edwin Bingham Prestridge, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Scotch Plains on

August 24, 2025. Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, he spent his formative years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and New Jersey. After graduating from Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS, he would go on to become a proud LSU Tiger enjoying many years of studying music, architecture, management and Tiger tailgating! After getting married he would eventually move back to Scotch Plains where he would settle down to raise his family.

Bing, as he was affectionately known, would make friends wherever he went. He was an engaging conversationalist who relished in the reward of a stranger's smile. He enjoyed building sheds, gardening, rock n' roll, and a spicy bowl of gumbo.

He was an active and dedicated member of the Fanwood Presbyterian Church and its choir. Bing shared his beautiful voice at services, weddings, and funerals, and faithfully served as both a deacon and an elder. Above all else, Bing loved spending time with his family-whether it was joking with his children, winning at all trivial pursuits, rooting for his daughter on the soccer fields, trips to the Watchung Reservation with his canine companion Frodeaux, or singing and sharing duets with his wife.

Bing is survived by his wife Barbara, their children Kelley and Ally, Ally's fiancé Bob, and Bing's siblings Wade and Patrick.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Memorial Funeral Home. A private family remembrance will be held in Vermont.
