Sanford, NC - Edwin A. Smith (Eddie/ Odie) passed away peacefully at 73, surrounded by loved ones in Sanford, NC on September 5, 2024.

Eddie was born December 26, 1950, in Lebanon NH. He attended Crotched Mountain for the Deaf and graduated from Mascoma Valley in 1971.

He was known to be a man of many trades working at IPC, Trumble Nelson, Security, and Timken.

He enjoyed watching wrestling, football, baseball, karate with his brother Avery, doing puzzles, hunting, fishing, collecting coins, enjoying many styles of music, and watching westerns with family and friends.

Eddie is survived by his loving brother, Eugene Smith, Jr.; his sister, Endora Smith, and life-long partner, David Ritchason; his children, Carrie Lynn, Dallas Smith, and Cassie Smith; nephew and nieces, Jake and Patty Smith and family, Amanda and Mark Girard and family, Chrystal Shinn and family, Ashley and Matt Hibbard and family; as well as his lifelong best friend, Sharon Strong; and his best dog friend, Little Foot. Eddie has many aunts, uncles, and friends in the family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Oscar Smith, Sr.; his mother, Loretta Thibodeau Smith; and brother, Edmond Avery Smith.

Eddie was very kind when it came to giving to charities like the NRA.

Eddie's departing words to his friends and family were, "Life is too short, live life to the fullest, no regrets."

Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 3 pm at Wells Cemetery, 238 Canaan Street, Canaan, NH 03741.
