Eeda Dennis Obituary
Eeda lived through the occupation of Norway during WWII. She met and married Alfred Pearce Dennis, a U.S. diplomat stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo.
Eeda and Alfred lived in many overseas posts, starting in Genoa, Italy, Reykjavik. Iceland, Naples, Italy, Yaounde, Cameroun, and Mogadishu, Somalia. Eeda enjoyed the people and cultures she encountered in these various posts.
Having lived in an occupied country, Eeda greatly admired George C. Marshall, creator of the Marshall Plan that helped rebuild Norway and many other European countries.
When Eeda first visited Leesburg, she met General Marshall, who was painting a fence at his home in Leesburg, Dodona Manor. Many years later Eeda convinced Molly Wynne, Marshall's daughter-in-law, to sell the house to a group of Leesburg citizens to preserve the house as a museum and conference center.
Eeda was an active participant in many organizations including the Leesburg Garden Club, Oatlands, the Marshall House, and St. James Episcopal Church.
Eeda is survived by three sons, Alfred, Rene, and John; and their spouses; four grandsons, Carl, Pierce, Sam, and Stefan.
Eeda's funeral will be held at Saint James Episcopal Church in Leesburg, January 17, 2026 starting at 1:00 PM with a reception afterwards in the Parish Hall.

Dear Alfred, René and John and Families,
Christine and I are sending our deepest condolences to you.
Having known your mother via the George C. Marshall International Center not only did we respect and appreciated her support and devotion to the Center but also her unique personality. We always enjoyed so much the many Sunday lunches we got invited to her home.
We will keep her in our hearts and send our best wishes to the whole Dennis Family.

Dear Alfred, René and John,
Ida was such a warm, kind and inclusive friend to my mother and to our family. They were close for more than 90 years, and that bond meant so much. Ida and Alfred were a wonderful couple, and I treasure the time I was invited to stay with them at Sage Hill all those years ago. I have so many cherished memories from summers in Ula in Norway.
My heartfelt condolences and warmest thoughts to you and your families on the loss of your dearest mother.
