Effie took joy in the simple pleasures of life. A lover of the great outdoors, she spent many blissful hours camping and fishing, and road tripping, often accompanied by her dear friends, and she cherished those memorable road trips, with each journey adding a new chapter to her life story. Above all, Effie took the most joy from her family. As a devoted homemaker, she created a home filled with love, warmth, and always, laughter. Her presence at her children's and grandchildren's events was a testament to her dedication and passion for her family.
Effie was a woman of profound faith, a lifelong member of the Rainbow Baptist Church. Her devotion was unwavering, her faith steadfast. She was there every time the church doors opened, her kind heart and warm smile a constant source of comfort for all who were fortunate to know her. Effie's faith was her guiding light, and she embodied the teachings of love and service, becoming a mother to many more than just her own children.
Effie is survived by her loving children, Terry (Shelley) Starnes and Karen (West) Shepard; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Addie and Burt McKinney; her husband, Logan Starnes; her son, Teddy Starnes; grandson, Brian Starnes and her siblings, Overton, W.A., Melvin McKinney, and Tennie Walton.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6:00pm CST at Wiley Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Glen Rose, Texas. A service celebrating Effie's life will occur at 10:00 am, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Rainbow Baptist Church, Rainbow, Texas. Burial will follow at Squaw Creek Cemetery.
The services are under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home - Glen Rose.
