Keith Starnes

VAN WYCK, SC ~Francis Keith Starnes, known lovingly as Keith, 89, of Van Wyck, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025. Born on September 11, 1936, in Van Wyck to the late Fredrick Frank Starnes and Dallas Courtney, Keith remained a lifelong resident of the community he cherished.

Keith was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Rebecca Baker Starnes. Together they built a strong and loving family, raising three sons: Keith Starnes Jr., Kyle Starnes, and Marcus Starnes. He was a proud grandfather to Kylie Starnes, Allie Plyler, Megan Starnes, and Michael Starnes, and a doting great-grandfather to Stella Paul, Harper Paul, Grayson Pate, Ethan Stanley, Kase Plyler, and Blessi Brazzell.

After graduating from Clemson University with his MBA, Keith began his professional career at Springs Industries in Lancaster, South Carolina, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. Never one to stay idle, he later partnered with his son Kyle to establish Hickory Hills, a wild game processing business in Van Wyck-a venture that combined his love for the outdoors with his strong work ethic.

Keith was a proud military veteran and a devoted member of Van Wyck United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or tending to his farm. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life.

He will be remembered for his sharp wit, steadfast integrity, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for family and community.

The family will hold a private graveside service.
