Effie M. Walker, age 98, entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2023. Effie was born in Cedarville, MI to John Malkowski and Victoria Dumback. Effie was a beautiful person, a wonderful mother, and a great friend, and she led a happy and meaningful life. She is survived by daughter Mary C. Hankins; son Paul S. Hankins; sister Dorothy Stec. She was preceded in death by Norman Walker (Husband), John Malkowski (Father), Victoria Dumback (Mother), Frances Pesenski (Sister), Mary Wahl (Sister), Cora Fountian (Sister), Frank Malkowski (Brother), Tony Malkowski (Brother), Wanda Dutcher (Sister), Mike Malkowski (Brother).
She left the farm as a young woman and was educated in Detroit, Michigan, as a registered nurse and nurse anesthetist, and once she moved to El Paso, Texas, in approximately 1956, she worked the next 33 years as a nurse at Southwestern General Hospital and Providence Memorial Hospital. She had the most beautiful flowers in her flower beds and the lushest and greenest lawn on the block where all the kids would play slip-n-slide and football. She was a fantastic cook, loved her church, St. Alban's, and she loved to travel. She had a great sense of style and fashion and was a loving and positive influence in anyone's life she touched.
Dementia was the culprit that stole her from us, but Effie will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and we look forward to the day we are reunited with her in heaven.
