Bradley Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Scottsburg on Mar. 15, 2026.
Bradley W. Walker 74, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.

His story begins on July 7, 1951, in Columbia City, Indiana, where he was born to Robert L. and Betty C. (Stoffer) Walker. From those early days, Brad developed the qualities that would define his life-strength, intelligence, a caring heart, and a determination that carried him through every challenge he faced.

Education and service to others were central to Brad's life. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1969 before continuing his education at Vanderlock College of Music. His passion for learning eventually led him to earn his Masters of Education at Ballstate University. Brad devoted many years to shaping young lives through education. He began his career as a band director in Columbia City, sharing his love for music with his students, and later served the Scott County School District 2 community as an administrator until his retirement. In every role he held, Brad was known as someone who cared deeply about the people around him especially the students who needed someone in their corner.

On August 3, 1980, Brad married the love of his life, Rhonda S. (Harris) Walker, in Columbia City, Indiana. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.

Brad's heart for people extended far beyond his professional life. He was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church and First Church of God in Columbia City, and later became a devoted member of the First Christian Church of Scottsburg. He was also a former Mason with Masonic Lodge #189 in Columbia City. Brad gave generously of his time, whether helping with biddy ball programs that ultimately helped bring football back to Scottsburg, or opening his home and heart as a foster parent. Over the years, Brad and Rhonda welcomed more than 200 children into their home, offering care, guidance, and love to those who needed it most.

Those who knew Brad will remember a man who was resilient and strong, often described by those closest to him as the strongest man in the entire world. He was a fighter who faced life head-on, but he was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a big heart. Brad had a playful side as well, known to be a prankster who enjoyed bringing laughter into the lives of those around him. Above all, he believed in standing up for the "low man on the totem pole," always willing to defend and encourage those who needed someone to stand beside them.

Brad leaves behind a family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda S. Walker; his children, Ashlin C. (Shiho) Walker of Okinawa, Japan, Amanda M. (Mathurin Fosso) Walker of Scottsburg, IN, Austin R. (Andrea) Walker of Scottsburg, IN, and Akaya L. (Parker) Adams of Crothersville, IN; and his eight grandchildren, Keishu, Riley, Logan, Nasiyah, Yanni, Peyton, Makinlee, and Palmer. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff (Wendy) Walker of Columbia City, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Betty C. (Stoffer) Walker, and his sister, Mary Jane Walker.

Pastor Matt Craig will conduct funeral services on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be conducted at Stough Cemetery in Columbia City, Indiana on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Memorial donations may be given to the Warrior Nation Touchdown Club or the Scottsburg First Christian Church.
