Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith & Sons Funeral Home - Columbia City on Feb. 3, 2026.
David Lynn Kneller, 65, of Columbia City, died peacefully in the company of family at 7:58 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his home.

Born on October 22, 1960, at Whitley County Memorial Hospital, Columbia City, Indiana, he was a son of Roger L. and Sharon A. (Mertz) Kneller. Growing up in Columbia Twp., David graduated from Columbia City High School in 1979. He continued his education, taking college courses in Iowa. Subsequently, he became a millwright with Carpenters Local 232, Fort Wayne.

He began his work career in various factory roles before becoming a process technician at Seamco – Perstorp, where he served for over 15 years.

Enjoying nature, he liked to watch the natural beauty around him, including birds, deer, and other small animals. He was a fan of unpredictable college sports, especially basketball, and, as a Hoosier, he was a fan of IU Basketball.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Columbia City.

Surviving are his son, Trevor Kneller of Columbia City; grandchildren, Riley and Kennedy; his mother, Sharon Kneller; two sisters, Cheryll (Edward) Sheets of Columbia City and Lisa (Phillip) Ball of Venice, FL; and a brother, Craig (Patricia) Kneller of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Lee Kneller.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (Feb 13th) at St John Lutheran Church, 2465 W Keiser Rd, Columbia City, IN 46725. Burial will be at the Eberhard Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
