Our beloved Dutch Doornbos, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday October 15, 2025 at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. Dutch was born November 19th, 1936 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to parents Bob and Jacoba Hartman. She was a loving wife, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.

She enjoyed having all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren come and visit. The more the better! She was so very proud of all of them. Dutch was blessed with six children. Laurie, Terri, Cindy, Tammey, Carla and Chuck, when she married Don, she was blessed with his children, Donny and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Jacoba (VanDalen) Hartman, daughter Laurie and son in law Denny Herron, son Donny Doornbos, great grandson Brayden Elrod, sisters Maude Miller and Jackie Wilbur.

She is survived by her husband Don, children Terri (Dennis) Bisanz, Cindy (Bryan) McGraw, Tammey (Robert) Underhill, Carla (Brian) Ford, Chuck (Brenda) Smith and Kelly Binkley, 67 grandchildren and great grandchildren with 3 of them namesake. Nancy Eileen, Maryissa Eileen and Vera Eileen. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Don and Dutch met when Dutch wanted some pointers on clowning. They never separated after that. They clowned together for 27 years, creating miles of smiles. They fished, golfed and traveled the U.S and made the most out of life. Previously Dutch owned a restaurant in Harrison, Michigan, so there was never an empty stomach in her home. Their home was always filled with kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was a member of Berlin Center United Methodist Church and also a member of the Red Hat Society of which she was the queen Red Hat.

Visitation will be at Lake Funeral Homes, 3521 S. State Rd. Ionia, Mi 48846. On Friday, October 17th from 4-7pm, funeral service will be held Saturday October 18th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Luncheon to follow at LeValley Church, 4018 Kelsey Hwy. Ionia, Michigan 48846. Online Condolences may be made at www.lakefuneralhomes.com.
