Eileen M. Dwyer (Metivier), 92, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Lawrence W. Dwyer. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Cronan) Metivier.
Eileen was a school teacher at Kent Heights Elementary School in East Providence until retirement. She was an avid reader, who visited the library weekly. She enjoyed going to plays, musicals, going out to dinner, and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and was known to make the “Dwyer” holidays extra special for everyone.
Eileen is survived by her daughters, Mary Fontaine and her husband, Russell, Margaret “Peg” Carroll and her husband, Joe, and Patricia Usenia; seven grandchildren, Katherine Lugo-Carroll (Tina Lugo), Emily Carroll (Colin Feeley), Matthew Carroll, Thomas, Joseph, and Delia Usenia, and Katie Barrett (Chris); three great-grandchildren, Grace, Julia, and Callum Feeley; and her sister, Virginia Tourtellott (Albert). She was the sister of the late Loretta DiDonato.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 8:45 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours Friday 5-7 pm.
