Eileen M. Katter

1925 - 2025

Eileen M. Katter, 99, of Greensburg, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Debra Edgar, in Erie, PA, after residing with her eldest son David and his wife Hally in her later years. She was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA. She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Young. Eileen graduated in nursing from Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was actively involved with Birthright, hospice, and a variety of volunteer groups. She enjoyed spending time with her large family, always remembering birthdays and sending Christmas gifts. She traveled extensively and enjoyed her time abroad, especially with her relatives in Ireland and Scotland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Thomas Young; and sister, Peggy Krider; her husband, Frank D. Edgar; and her second husband, George Katter; and her eldest son, David. Surviving her are her sons, Tim Edgar (Nina), Mark Edgar, Daniel Edgar (Debra), and John Edgar (Nancy); and her daughter-in-law, Hally Edgar; grandchildren, Lisa Allison (Ian), Matthew Edgar (Nikki), Alex Edgar (Leslie), Colin Edgar (Molly), Conner Edgar, Kathryn Edgar (Zack); and great-grandchildren, Aidan Allison, Kieran Allison, Teagan Allison, Liam Edgar, Aubrey Edgar, and Josephine Edgar. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Ellen Katter (Jim Reger), Charles Katter (Andrea), Joseph Katter (Mira Bayeh), Francesca Romanos (Rachid), Steven Katter (Meg Schaefer), and John Katter; step-grandchildren, Anna Penberthy (Mats), Charlotte Katter, David Katter (Elizabeth), and Gabriella Romanos, Isabelle Katter; and great-step-grandchildren, George Penberthy and Feliz Penberthy. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 3 to 7 p.m., at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Services will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at 9:30 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 N. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Everyone, please go directly to the church. Private interment will follow.
