Eileen Ann Melver, 84, of Cresco, Iowa was called home on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Cresco. She was born May 14, 1940 in Cresco to Bernard and Anna (Arens) Costello.
She attended school in Cresco, graduating in 1958. In August of 1958, she married Norman Melver. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1994.
Eileen worked for many years at the Howard Residential Care Facility and also at Featherlite prior to her retirement. She enjoyed camping and fishing with Norman prior to his death.
Eileen will be dearly missed by her children: Debra (Steve) Good, David (Wendy) Melver and Dalynn Melver all of Cresco. Her grandchildren: Nicki (Curt) Kleve, Roczen & Cayson; Danyelle (Andrew Kulish) Good, Jazamae, Tyson & Ayla; Taylor (Alex) Kirschbaum, Austin, Bridger & Harper; Kassidy (Darius) Jones, Jurnee, Azarah & Zanden; Kyle (Liz) Balk, Braxten & Isabella; Brittany (Justin Cavnar) Balk, & Jayden; Travis (Aubrey) Balk, Tylor & Avery and her 4-legged friend, Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers: John (Marlene) Costello, Jim (Wanda) Costello and Bernard Costello.
We would like to thank all of the staff at Accura Healthcare in Cresco for their kindness and loving care for Eileen and also Howard County Hospice for all their compassion and comfort this past week. Special thanks to Katlyn, Brecka, Kerrie, Mary, Vickie and Lori. We can't thank you all enough.
A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Cresco later this fall. Schmelzer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
