Monica Melver, 44, formerly of Mason City, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Zearing Healthcare Center. Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. Visitation will begin an hour prior at 1:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Monica was born on April 7, 1979, in Cresco, Iowa to Carl and Sherry (Beck) Melver. She grew up and attended school in Fredricksburg, Iowa. Following school, she moved to Mason City where she worked at the Woodharbor Factory. Monica loved to spend time with her family, fishing, swimming, tubing, anything outdoors in nature, working in her yard, and all animals, especially dogs.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her mom Sherry Melver; husband Gus Meyer; children Shaina Alcorn and Sierra Alcorn; siblings Megan Mahaffey, and Mike Alcorn I; aunt Debbie Alcorn; uncle Virgil Beck; uncle Mike Alcorn I; cousins Ruby Melver, Josh Melver, Angie Folton, Steve Folton, John Folton, Aron Beck, and Travis Beck.
Monica was preceded in death by her dad Carl, siblings Jesse Beck and Whitney Mahaffey; grandparents Betty and Virgil Beck, and Sydney and Mandy Alcorn, many aunts and uncles, and Cousin Melinda Fredhiem.
Memorial contributions may be directed to her family.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing has been entrusted with the care of Monica and her family.
