LaVonne was born on July 12, 1928, in rural Roland, Iowa to parents Clarence and Carrie Anderson. She was baptized at Bergen Lutheran Church, Roland, Iowa on September 2, 1928. LaVonne was confirmed at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, Iowa in March of 1942. She attended school in Zearing, Iowa graduating in 1946.
On January 18, 1947, LaVonne married Lavern (Bud) Christianson. To this union two sons were born, James Craig and Kevin Lee. LaVonne was a farm wife and worked at the Tri-County State Bank in Zearing, Iowa for 28 years. Bud and LaVonne moved to town in 1972. She was a lifelong resident of the Zearing area.
Bud and LaVonne were members of Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa where she served as a council member, treasurer and president, as well as a member of the BLCW as treasurer. LaVonne also served as treasurer for NESCO School Board for 20 years. She belonged to numerous coffee clubs, quilt club, Civic Improvement Club, Sorosis Club and American Legion Auxiliary. LaVonne enjoyed gardening and spending time with family especially grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lavern, son James and daughter-in-law Rita, granddaughter Shalee Beth.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin (Cecelia) Christianson, grandchildren Chad (Dawn) Christianson, Michaela Christianson, Gina (Todd) Gear, Tara (Joel) Ethington, Keith (Nicole) Christianson. Great grandchildren Tyler and Elli Christianson, Mason and McKenzie Gear, Noah, Pete and Alex Ethington, Mia and Maci Christianson. Siblings JoAnn Couser, Lloyd (Janelle) Anderson, Dennis (Pat) Anderson, Linda Tett as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Memorial contributions can be directed to Threshold Learning Center, Zearing, Iowa.
