Eileen Schell

Eileen Schell, age 78 of Arverne, NY passed away peacefully in Lynchburg, VA on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Eileen was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 38 years, Thomas Schell and her beloved son, Thomas Joseph Schell.

Eileen was the devoted mother of Kerrie McNamara, Andrea Horton (Daniel) and Kelly McMahon (Brian) . She was also a wonderful step-mother and was dearly loved by Debbie Turner (Chris) and Dawn West (Allen).

Her beloved grandchildren, Allen, Stephanie, Wyatt, Jessica, Jessica Harley, Melanie, Matthew, Eliza, Ava and Jake brought her immense pride and joy. In addition, she was great-grandmother to Hudson whom she loved dearly.

Eileen is survived by her 2 brothers John Farrell and wife Kate, and Kevin Farrell and wife Patricia. She was also a cherished aunt and friend to many.

Eileen was an LPN who devoted her entire career working with the most vulnerable children, families and adults. For many years she worked at the Five Towns Community Center implementing Health, Nutrition, and Education programs for families in the Head Start Program. In addition, she handled crisis intervention and family advocacy.

She completed her career at Catholic Charities in Far Rockaway where she was a fierce fighter for the homeless, mentally ill, and addicted residents of the community. Eileen would overturn every stone to get resources and services for those in need. Eileen's warmth, kindness and unwavering support for those in need touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
