Eileen E. Steinbrunner, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Lincolnshire Place in Fort Wayne. She was born in North Star, Ohio, on Tuesday, January 21, 1936, to George and Margaret (Huwer) Dorsten. On April 12, 1958, she married Harold F. Steinbrunner who preceded her in death on August 27, 2007. Eileen dedicated over two decades to Marion Community Schools as an educational assistant, where her gentle guidance and unwavering patience left a lasting impact on countless young lives. A devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church, she lived her faith through action-delivering Meals on Wheels and lending her voice to the Best Years Singers. Eileen's zest for life shone through in her love of golfing, dancing, and spirited card games. A member of Arbor Trace Golf Course, she spent many hours on the green in her younger years. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore all 50 states, each journey adding another cherished memory. Yet, of all her accomplishments, Eileen held her time in education closest to her heart. Even in her later years, she often spoke fondly of the children she taught, a testament to the deep pride she felt in shaping young minds.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Steve) Jefferson of Fort Wayne; sons, Doug (Laurie) Steinbrunner of Fort Wayne, Joe (Janine) Steinbrunner of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Tiffany (Brian) Smith, Andrew (Emily) Jefferson, Cody (Mollee) Jefferson, Brianna Steinbrunner; step-grandchildren Jacob, Madison; great grandchildren, Weston, Isabella, Robin; brother, Walter (Carol) Dorsten of Greenville, OH; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
