EILEEN TWOMEY Obituary

TWOMEY, Eileen F. A lifelong resident of Brighton, Massachusetts, was the beloved daughter of the late John and Anna (O'Brien) Twomey. As the eldest of nine siblings, she played a vital role in raising her younger brothers and sisters: James, John, William, Robert, Patricia (Messinger), Mary (Tinsley), Anna and Richard. Eileen lived a simple and fulfilling life in Brighton Center, spending 40 years in her Market Street apartment. She dedicated her career to New England Telephone and Telegraph and upon retirement, devoted herself to volunteering at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. She cherished time with friends at the Venetian Beauty Shoppe, enjoyed a hearty beef stew at the Corrib Pub and was a devoted Boston College football season ticket holder well into her 90s. Some of her fondest memories revolved around Boston sports and lively conversations about games with her brothers. Eileen was a woman of humble generosity who gave freely of her time and resources, always supporting her family and community. She is survived by many relatives, including her beloved sister-in-law, Barbara; her nephews, Mark and Peter Messinger and their wives, Nancy and Jane, who cared for her in her later years. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved seeing at holidays and family gatherings. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at St. Teresa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their compassionate care and comfort in her final years. Visiting Hours in the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave. (Nr Brighton Courthouse), BRIGHTON, on Thursday, June 5, from 6-8pm. Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church, 321 Market Street, Brighton, on Friday, June 6, at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
