For over 20 years, Elaine served as a legal administrative assistant, first with Aaron Paul Thompson and then with William Draper for an additional 15 years. Her commitment to her work reflected her diligent nature and her outstanding ability to support those around her.
Elaine was a devoted and cherished member of her family. She is survived by her two sons, Stacy Burton (Dorinda) and Scott Burton (Linda Faye), and her daughter, Deborah Hawn. She took great pride in her grandchildren: Summer Summers (Ryan), Carla Davidson (Curtis), Taylor Swan (Jacob), Lydia Burton, Lexi Burton, Maghan Stubblefield (James), Lisa Crawford, and Brent Crawford (Hailey). Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Noah, Jaren, and Hayden Summers, Maximus and Lucas Stites, Keon Crawford, Asher Johnson, and Draven Stubblefield, each of whom she adored deeply.
A beloved member of the Algood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Elaine's faith was fundamental to her life. She was known for her wonderful spirit and for being a diligently faithful Christian, offering support and warmth to her congregation and friends alike.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis Hall Copeland and Ethylene Matheney Copeland, her husband, Carl D. Burton (who died August 8, 1997); and her siblings, James (Jim), David, Donald (Don), and Charles Copeland.
A funeral service to honor Elaine will be at 1 p.m. Friday November 21 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate.
