Mac Evans Obituary

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Boyd McCutchen Evans Jr., affectionately known as "Mac", was born on March 13, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee. He passed away following a sudden illness on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his beloved wife, Karen, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Growing up in Nashville, Mac attended public school and spent time at Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN. Following high school, he moved to Cookeville to further his education at Tennessee Tech University, establishing roots in a community he would come to love dearly.

Mac had a fulfilling career as a Cookeville realtor for over 36 years, during which he forged deep and lasting relationships with his clients, earning their trust and respect through his integrity and dedication. His lively and active personality left a mark on all who knew him, making him not only a skilled professional but also a cherished friend.\

In addition to his professional life, Mac had many interests and passions. He found joy in traveling and spending time outdoors, especially water skiing on Center Hill Lake and camping in his RV on the beach in South Carolina. A devoted Corvair enthusiast, he drove Corvairs for over 30 years, a testament to his unique character and interests.

Mac was a dedicated member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, where he drew strength and inspiration from his faith. He was proud to celebrate over 40 years of sobriety, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and well-being, and was dedicated in his support of countless others in their recovery from addiction. His spirit of giving extended beyond his family, as he volunteered and mentored students at White Plains Academy. He was also a charter member of the Cookeville Breakfast Rotary Club, where he contributed to his community with kindness and purpose.

Mac was a loving husband to his wife, Karen Evans, and a devoted father to his sons, Boyd Evans (Kathy) and Dan Evans (DeAnne). He was the proud brother of Jeanne Dudley Smith and took great joy in being a grandfather to nine grandchildren: Landon Evans (Leigh Ann), Logan Evans (Caylin), Laken Evans, Jonah Evans, MaryKatherine Evans, Chloe Caldwell (Drew), Boyd Evans IV, Andrew Evans, and Benjamin Shassere (Brittany). His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Bowen, Layla, Walker, Lyndie, Owen, and Addilyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd McCutchen Evans Sr. and Mary Haun Evans, and his sister, Mary Malone.

Friends and community members are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday November 25, 2025, from 11 - 1 p.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, located at 640 North Washington Avenue, Cookeville, TN. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m.
