Elaine Nancy Grenga Capobianco, 82, of Narragansett, Rhode Island.

After a seven-year-plus battle with multiple myeloma and subsequent brain cancer, Elaine died peacefully at South County Hospital on Monday, December the 8th, surrounded by her loving family.

For over 58 years, she was the loving wife and best friend of Nicholas G. Capobianco, DDS an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Elaine, after 38 years as a resident of Wakefield, Rhode Island, moved to the condo of her dreams at 101 Ocean Road, unit 304, Narragansett, Rhode Island in December 2020.

She enjoyed the sweeping views and the sound of the ocean from her beautiful living room. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on April 21, 1943, to the late Catherine Marchetti Grenga and Anthony Grenga of Providence and Johnston. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Providence in 1960 and again from Rhode Island College in 1964. She then attained a master's degree in guidance and counseling from R.I. College. She taught at Hope Elementary in Scituate, Rhode Island after graduating from Rhode Island College. After getting married to Nick in 1967, she then became the head of guidance and counseling at a high school in St. Louis, Missouri. After having three children, she returned to teaching as a teacher of talented and gifted children at Wawaloam School in Exeter, West Greenwich Rhode Island. When grants were depleted, she then became a high school guidance counselor at the Exeter West Greenwich Regional High School until 2002.

She enjoyed playing golf. She was also a golf croquet player and won two Dunes Club championships in women's doubles. She was an avid bridge player and competed successfully in many tournaments, both at the Dunes Club and statewide. She was a member of the Dunes Club from 1980 to the present time. She was also an accomplished skier. She skied in New Hampshire, Utah, and Colorado, as well as multiple group ski trips throughout Europe. She was also an avid reader who could easily discuss any novel she read

She is survived by two younger brothers, William A. Grenga, (Julie) Johnston, Rhode Island, and Ronald Grenga of Warwick, Rhode Island.

She was the sister of the late Theresa Grenga Giuliano of Johnston, Rhode Island. Her guidance and love will be missed by her three children. She was the mother of Robert Nicholas Capobianco M.D., of St. Cloud, Florida, (Liz), David Nicholas Capobianco of Houston, Texas,(Rosangela), and Theresa Grenga Capobianco Buchanan (Jonathan) of Sydney, Australia.

Grandma will be deeply missed by her nine grandchildren: Alessandra, Daniela, Anthony, Giovanna, David, and Darius Capobianco, as well as Keiley, Connor, and Lachlan Buchanan. She would always make pizzellas for all her grandchildren. She was an incredible motivator as she helped her husband as well as her three children achieve both academically and athletically. If you told Elaine it couldn't be done, she would always figure out the way to do it. Her courage in fighting multiple myeloma and subsequent brain cancer has been an inspiration to her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 12th at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church 53 Rockland Street, in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 11th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Rhode Island.
