Kevin McGrath Obituary

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI- Kevin Gerard McGrath, born October 20, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Frances Brennan McGrath.

Kevin was the beloved son of the late John Francis and Josephine M. (Ryan) McGrath and eldest brother to his four siblings.

He grew up in St. Peter's Parish in Warwick, Rhode Island, was a 1968 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School and went on to attend Providence College on a full merit scholarship. While at Providence College, in addition to earning his B.S. In Economics, Kevin forged lifelong friendships. Providence College not only influenced his professional life but shaped his personal choices as well. It laid the groundwork for his career, and more importantly, strengthened the values he carried into his family life.

Kevin began his professional career as a young Branch Manager at Industrial National Bank in Wakefield, Rhode Island. From there, he worked his way up to the Providence main office, eventually becoming a Senior Vice President. Along the way, he gained experience in several departments, including Precious Metals, Indirect Lending, Automobile Dealer Floor Planning, and finally the Fleet Leasing Division, later Banc of America, where he remained until his retirement in 2016. Kevin possessed excellent negotiation skills, which earned him the respect and recognition of his colleagues and business associates alike.

Kevin was a resident of South Kingstown, Rhode Island for the past 38 years and an active member of the community, especially in youth sports. While his children were growing up, he coached many of their basketball, soccer, and baseball teams. When he was not coaching, he could be found on the sidelines, proudly cheering for his children and later his grandchildren. Kevin was also an avid New England sports fan.

Kevin was a former member of the Quidnessett Country Club and a more recent member of the Potowomut Country Club, where he worked on mastering his golf game.

He could often be found reading a book and relaxing at the Galilee Beach Club with family and friends. Kevin was also a proud season ticket holder for Providence College men's basketball for more than 50 years. In their retirement

years, Kevin and Fran spent their winters in Venice, Florida, and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with close friends.

Kevin shared an extraordinary 47-year marriage with his loving wife, Fran, who remained his constant companion and greatest blessing throughout his life. Above all else, Kevin cherished his family. He was the loving father of Meaghan Crupe and her husband William, and Michaela Lundin and her husband Todd. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Patrick McGrath, whom he missed dearly every day. Kevin adored his six grandchildren - Isabella, Caroline, and Charlotte Crupe, and Maddison, Jack, and Riley Lundin each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Kevin is survived by his brother John and his wife Debbie, his sister Alice and her husband Rob, and his brother Timothy and his wife Terrianne. He was predeceased by his twin, Margaret, and her husband Jeff. Kevin also leaves behind his sister-in-law Kathleen and her husband Harry, and his brother-in-law Jim and his wife Stephanie. Kevin was the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Kevin will be remembered for his quiet strength, his quick wit, and his unwavering devotion to both friends and family. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, loyalty, and generosity that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
