Elaine Champani-Gomes, of
Falmouth, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elaine was born in Roslindale, MA to the late Peter and Fontaine Champanis.
She worked in the Human Resources field for over thirty years in both the private and public sectors. Her last position was at Teledyne in North Falmouth. Due to restructuring and a demotion, Elaine decided that "it was time" to move on. Shortly thereafter, she found comfort and formed wonderful friendships working at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, MA.
Loving sister of James Champani of Falmouth, Patricia Massouras and her husband Angelo of Needham, MA. Dear sister-in-law of Joannie Champanis, Brenda and John Gomes, David Gomes, and Joanne. Cousin of Cathy Dorigatti. She also leaves her stepchildren, Valerie and Cindi Gomes, and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine is predeceased by her "rock," her loving husband Louis "Vini" Gomes, who passed away on May 22, 2018. In addition to her husband, she is also predeceased by her brother, Edward Champanis, and her stepchildren, Mark, Kim, Timothy, and Stacey Gomes.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Maria Mastorakos, Jen Griswold, and Marilyn Farren, for standing beside her for every step of the way. They also want to thank the caring staff at Dr. Aviles's Office and the staff at Falmouth Hospital for their extraordinary care and support during her illness.
Along with Vini, Elaine was a proud member of Legendary Street Rods.
Visitation will take place at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Road, Centerville, on Wednesday, October 8 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Services will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave.,
