Elaine Edwards Obituary
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Martin Egging officiating. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The morning will begin with a Rosary at 9 a.m. and the family will greet friends until the service. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the family for later designation.
Mrs. Edwards was born on June 16, 1931, in Grand Island, the daughter of Fred and Adelia (Harders) Ehlers. She grew up in Grand Island and was educated in the Grand Island Schools. Prior to her marriage she was employed by Model Laundry and Jesse Baking Company.
She was united in marriage to Melvin M. Edwards on June 16, 1954, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island for two years after their marriage, at which time they moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa. They returned to Grand Island in 1960. In 1964, they moved to Alliance, returning in 1970 to Grand Island. She was employed by Hornady Manufacturing for 21 years as an ammunitions inspector. She retired in 1996.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Blessed Sacrament Altar Society and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and Nebraska Football. She especially loved traveling to visit her children.
She is survived by a son, Michael T. Edwards of Emory, Texas; six daughters, Jesse (Matthew "Shorty") Huffman of Rio Rancho, N.M., Echo (Victor) Sanchez of Alliance, Sandy Moberg of Kearney, Lisa Ann Hartzell of Colfax, Linda Edwards of Staley, N.C., and Amy Edwards of Julian, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Ehlers of Grand Junction, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Timothy Lee Edwards; brother, Wilbur "Dutch" Ehlers; sister, Roma Fuehrer; and son-in-law, Don Moberg.

Just want to offer my Condolences to all of Elaine Family and extended family Elaine was a JOY to work with at HORNADY mfg to watch her jump on the forklift and not complain about her knee she taught me so much about Inspector and forklift and safety I also remembered she did her pamplet puzzles slot I will miss her sorry I leave to California for my own sister funeral Friday morning from Omaha Airport
