Elaine Helen Schultz, the daughter of Joseph and Augusta W. (Reyer) Schultz, was born on March 25, 1938, in Crookston, MN. Elaine grew up in the city of Crookston, along with her two brothers and two sisters. Her childhood was filled with swimming, roller skating and babysitting. She graduated from Crookston High School in 1956.
After graduation, Elaine worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. in Minneapolis, where she met and lived with her two future sisters-in-law, Lill and Babe Koubsky. She was united in marriage to their brother, Frank George Koubsky on December 28, 1959 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in rural Lowry. The two made their home in Lowry, where they raised their six children. Elaine was a constant fixture in the community, working at the Lowry Café and Lowry Grocery Store. Frank and Elaine shared 49 years of marriage before he died in 2009. The two were honored with the Senior Citizens of the year award by the Lions Club shortly before he passed.
Elaine and Frank kept very busy attending their children's and grandchildren's sporting and school activities. They loved to travel, polka dance and visit with family and longtime friends.
In recent years, Elaine has been a resident at Glenwood Village Care Center. She passed away at Glacial Ridge Hospital on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 86.
Elaine is survived by three sons John (Diane) Koubsky of Clear Lake, Tim Koubsky of Glenwood, Frank (Susan) Koubsky of Orono, and three daughters, Kathy (Paul Twite) Lee of Glenwood, Deb (Deron) Stamp of Prior Lake, and Sharon (Mike) Goettsch of Grove Lake; 15 grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Gregory, Sam, Kaysha, Kolten, Chris, Erik, Evan, Ty, Truman, Rowen, Leo, Bradley, and Becca; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Koubsky of Glenwood and Joann (Jerry) Hanson of Ada; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Augusta Schultz; her husband, Frank Koubsky; and her two brothers, Kenny and Jerry Schultz.
Elaine will be remembered for her hard work ethic, spoiling her grandchildren, her quick wit and her love for Jesus. All of this will be sorely missed, as well as her famous potato salad and banana bread.
