Obituary of Elaine Ruth Millazzo

June 7, 1942 – January 25, 2026

Elaine Ruth Millazzo, age 83, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by love.

Elaine was born in 1942 in River Rouge, Michigan, to Michael Washko and Marie Weber. She was the middle daughter in a close-knit family, growing up alongside her older sister Mary Ann and younger sisters Julie and Michelle.

Elaine was educated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, where she attended from elementary through high school graduation. From an early age, she delighted in reading, attending dances, and spending time with her beloved best friend Pat and her sister Mary Ann. In high school, Elaine studied Latin, discovered a lifelong love of accounting, sang in the school choir, joined the cheerleading squad, and worked at the local dime store. Friends fondly remember her for her generous heart, adventurous spirit, and joyful love of life.

Following high school, Elaine began her career with the City of River Rouge, working in the accounting office. Her love of ledgers, record-keeping, and balanced books was both a passion and a point of pride she carried throughout her life. In addition to her professional pursuits, Elaine possessed a remarkable talent for interior design and home renovation. Over the years, she owned, renovated, and maintained multiple rental properties, each reflecting her meticulous craftsmanship and artistic eye. She often remarked, "Nothing is more gratifying than a fresh coat of paint."

In 1964, Elaine married her childhood sweetheart and soulmate, Anthony Millazzo. She first met Anthony at the age of seven at a neighborhood wading pool and often recalled being instantly drawn to his dynamic personality. Their friendship blossomed into love by the age of twelve, and she remained devoted to him for the rest of her life. Together, Elaine and Anthony lovingly raised five children, instilling in them a deep appreciation for education, culture, and travel. They journeyed throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, frequently accompanied by their children or siblings. Family was always at the heart of their lives and remained their greatest purpose and joy.

Elaine was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother - selfless, tireless, and endlessly devoted. She consistently placed the needs and passions of her family above her own, never wavering despite the demands of raising five children. Her children were the living embodiment of the love she shared with Anthony and the greatest source of pride in her life.

In her quiet moments, Elaine found peace and fulfillment in her perennial garden. Despite suffering from numerous environmental allergies, nothing could deter her from tending to her flowers. On fair-weather days, she could be found outdoors with pockets full of tissues, dirt under her nails, and a radiant smile. An avid reader, Elaine rarely let a day pass without enjoying a chapter or two of her current book.

Elaine cherished opening her home to others and took great joy in entertaining family. On many Sundays, Elaine prepared a beautiful family meal, always finished with a homemade cake or pie, turning ordinary evenings into lasting traditions. She possessed a deep compassion for others, especially those in need, and never hesitated to offer help, a listening ear, or prayers. Elaine was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and expressed that devotion through constant prayer, often offering multiple rosaries each day for the intentions and needs of others. Elaine also held a special affection for dogs, particularly her beloved white cockapoo, Freeway, and her grand-dog, Gomez.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; her son, Anthony Jr.; and her sister, Julie. She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline, Angela, Melissa, and Ann Marie; her cherished grandchildren, Emily, Anthony, Nicholas, Jonathan, Lucas, Julian, Jake, Joseph, Enzo, and Elena; her daughter-in-law, Laura; her sons-in-law, James, Jeff, and Paul; and her sisters, Mary Ann and Michelle.

Thinking of Jackie, Paul and the whole family at this difficult time. Sending condolences, sympathy, love, prayers and support from Australia on St Brigid´s feast day - Martina, David, Dwyer, Brook & Frances Simpson

Saint Brigid.
You were a woman of peace.
You brought harmony where there was conflict.
You brought light to the darkness.
You brought hope to the downcast.
May the mantle of your peace cover those who are troubled and anxious,
and may peace be firmly rooted in our hearts and in our world.
Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made.
Brigid you were a voice for the wounded and the weary.
Strengthen what is weak within us.
Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens.
May we grow each day into greater wholeness in mind, body and spirit.

Amen
