Elaine Osgood Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 13, 2025.
Elaine Osgood, age 89, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in Rochester, NY.

Born on January 22, 1936, and raised in Buffalo, NY, Elaine was the daughter of Kenneth and Jennie (Klopp) Crane. She was a devoted housewife who also worked part-time over the years, always placing her family and faith at the center of her life. Elaine's days were marked by quiet strength, unwavering love, and deep commitment to those she cared for.

Elaine was a longtime, active member of Victory Church, where she found spiritual strength and community until her health no longer allowed her to attend. She also enjoyed her time and friendships at the Henrietta Senior Center, where she remained involved until her health declined.

She found joy in simple pleasures-reading her Bible, doing crossword and word search puzzles, and especially playing Scrabble every Sunday with her grandson Blake. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she lived by her favorite Bible verse:

"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." – Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

Mom truly lived this verse every day.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Osgood; her parents, Kenneth and Jennie Crane; her son, Douglas Osgood; and her sister, Marilyn May.

She is survived by her loving children: Dianne (Joe) Meli, David Osgood, Deborah Strapp, and Dennis (Vicki) Osgood. She was a proud grandmother to Corinne (Jacob) Hillmon, Brittany Meli, Emma Meli, Taryn (William) O'Buckley, David Osgood, Blake Osgood, Jake (Becca) Osgood, Krysta Halladay, Kenneth (Nelly) Halladay, Daniel Osgood, Stephanie Osgood, and Kenadi Osgood. Elaine also leaves behind several great-grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15th at the Interfaith Chapel at Miller Funeral and Cremation Service in Henrietta at NOON. A reception will immediately follow at MicGinny's on the River.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Rochester and the Finger Lakes to support ongoing research, or to the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital, which provided compassionate care in Elaine's final days.

Elaine will be remembered for her warmth, gentle spirit, and her devotion to faith and family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
