Elbert Lewis Avery Jr. “Lukie” departed this life on February 23, 2026.
He was born on May 22, 1967 to the late Elbert Lewis Avery Sr. and the late Linda Ferguson Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Herman Leon Carter, his stepsister, Ju-Anita Turner, his aunt, Genetta Phillips, and his uncles, Earl Ferguson, Jr. and Danny Ferguson, Sr.
Lukie is survived by his children, Ashley, Tiffany and Cornelius Clark; granddaughter, Amelyah Monroe; sisters, Diane Gray, Patricia Jackson (Mark), Tamika Carter (Charlene), and Cheree Carter-Osei (Paul); aunts, Shirley Rucker, Glodelia Hutcherson (Carl), and Jackie Ferguson; uncle, Cecil Phillips; a devoted friend, Lilly Glover; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The memories we shared with Lukie will forever remain in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with a repass to follow.
Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
