Funeral Service for Mr. Elbert A. Cobb, 74, of Anniston, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 5, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Eric Snider and Dr. Jackie Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at the adjacent cemetery. Following the service, the Quad Cities Volunteer Fire Department will host a meal for Mr. Cobb's family and friends at their Highway 9 Fire Station. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs.
Mr. Cobb passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.
The youngest of eight children, Mr. Cobb was a resident of the White Plains Community in Calhoun County for most of his life. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer deputy for the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department. He was a founding member of the Quad Cities Volunteer Fire Department, where he remained active until his health no longer allowed. He retired from Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center with 36 years of service. Mr. Cobb's primary goal in life was to tend to his farm and care for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sandra Harris Cobb; children, Tracy C. Shaw (Gary Thorne) and Joel R. Cobb; grandchildren, Nicholas Allen Shaw (Kelsie), Caitlin Michelle Cobb, Faith LeAnn Shaw, Mallory Rae Cobb, and Carrie Brooke Shaw; great-grandchildren, Blakely Hope Shaw and Kamden Ray Shaw; sister, Mary Catherine Ligon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lee Cobb and Sadie Pettus Cobb; and siblings, Eston Cobb, Lawrence Cobb, Donald Cobb, Louise Poss, Claude Pettus, and Stanley Cobb.
Pallbearers will be members of the Quad Cities Volunteer Fire Department, and members of other surrounding departments in their coverage area.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Cobb's honor to Quad Cities Volunteer Fire Department, 4444 Highway 9, Anniston, AL 36207.
