Elbert Gene Kent

Elbert Gene Kent, age 91, of Sunny Side, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026.

Mr. Kent was born in Griffin, Georgia on September 12, 1934. His parents, Elmer Otis Kent and Nellie Isabell Crane Kent; his wife Jane Allen Kent; his sister, Hazel Kent Landers; and brother, Bobby Alton "Buck" Kent, all preceded him in death. He was retired from the United States Navy and later retired from Snapper. He was a former Assistant Coach for the Griffin High School Bears for 6-7 years. Mr. Kent was an avid golfer and member of DeVotie Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Jamie Kent; adopted family, Alec Tate, wife, Amy and their children, Hamilton Tate wife Cheyenne and son Lincoln, Harrison Tate, and Ethan Tate; adopted family, Angie Dupree, husband, Barry and children, Natalie, Elliott and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, the funeral service will be in the chapel. Pastor Travis Cooke will officiate.
