Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cornelison Funeral Home - Pocatello on Feb. 24, 2026.
Eldon Alexander Gaunt was born February 3, 1970 in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Fred Raymond and Lois Marie Gaunt. He passed away on February 23, 2026.
Eldon was the youngest of three boys. He was raised in the Salt Lake Valley, often spending summers in Montana working on his uncle's farm. He spent his high school years studying auto mechanics and auto body. Working on cars was something he enjoyed his entire life. He had a talent for noticing things with cars by feeling the body of the car or listening to them run.
Eldon attended Utah Valley Community College, where he obtained his GED. He also attended other colleges where he took a variety of classes and learned many different skills.
Eldon married Diane Exeter, January 28, 1994 in
Pocatello, ID. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 16, 1996.
Eldon has been a life long member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the New Jersey Morristown Mission from 1989-1991. Eldon has served in a variety of callings including Elders quorum counselor and secretary, Sunday School President, youth Sunday School teacher, Stake missionary, Ward missionary, temple and family history committee member, ward facilities representative, and Primary teacher. He also served in the cub scouts and boy scouts programs as a committee chairman, regional activities committee chairman, and den leader. He loved working with the youth and teaching them skills they could use throughout their life. Eldon and Diane served in the Portland Temple baptistry for 17 months, which was a wonderful experience for them.
Eldon has had many jobs including CNA, Insurance Agent, and owner of a janitorial company. He loved traveling to see new places and making things clean. He was especially great at cleaning windows. His favorite was vacuuming. One time he vacuumed 64,000 sq feet in a week. He was really tired when he came home from that trip, but said it was one of the best times he had ever had! He always said he loved vacuuming from the time he was a young child. This is something he continued to help with on his good days throughout his illness.
Eldon is survived by his wife, 4 children, his siblings, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a son in law, brother in law, and father in law.
