Eldon Giles Obituary
Eldon Giles, 91, of Winterset, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Eldon Roy Giles was born in Adair County on June 11, 1933, to John and Bertha (Pettit) Giles. He grew up in Spencer, Iowa and moved to Greenfield as a teenager. He moved to Winterset in 1964 and started a roofing business with Gary Orr. He sold the business and retired in 2001. He was united in marriage to Leila Garner on February 14, 1984 in Creston, Iowa. He was a member of the New Bridge Church of Winterset.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Leila; sons, Lenard Winters of Oklahoma, Scott (LeeAnn) Winters of California, and Eldon Dean Giles of Corning; nieces and nephews, Scott (Waunita) Giles, Martin Giles, Tim Giles, Kevin Giles, Angela Giles, Penny Giles, and Karla (Travis) Weland; 9 grandchildren, Robin, L.J., Krystal, Raymond, John, Justin, Jarred, Annalee, and Alex; 8 great grandchildren, Kooper, Jazmine, Kristof, Ameila, Sawyer, Jaisy, Johnny, and Leila; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha (Pettit) Giles; daughters, Rosie Jarnagin and Betty Giles; brother, Russell Giles; infant sister, Dorothy Giles; nephew, David Giles; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lee and Elise Garner.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 2, 2024, at New Bridge Church in Winterset. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 3, at the church. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Adair County.
Memorials may be made to the New Bridge Church, Winterset.
