Eldon Lyle Monson, the son of Martin William and Mabel (Carlson) Monson, was born on March 22, 1929 in Livermore, Iowa. He graduated from Livermore High School in 1947. Eldon was united in marriage with Averill Signe Oppedahl on November 24, 1956 at Lake Lutheran Church of rural Goldfield.
Eldon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served in many officer positions. He was a member of the Good Luck Motorcycle Club of Algona. Eldon enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson in his younger days, and took pride in keeping his vehicles and farm equipment clean, and his farm weed free. Most importantly, he always stressed being faithful to the Lord in your words, thoughts and actions.
Left to cherish Eldon's memory are his children, Ruth (Dennis) Brearley of Waxahachie, TX, Phillip (Janice) Monson of Humboldt and Wayne (Dee) Monson of Ankeny; grandchildren, Deanna Rolland, Joel (Carla) Rolland, Heidi (Danny) Cook, Derek Oelmann, Heather (Josh) Donavan, Evan (Natassia) Monson and Robert (Paige) Monson; great granddaughters, Kaitlyn Rolland, Abygail Rolland, Elouise Monson and Lilian Monson; sisters-in-law, Arda Oppedahl of Humboldt and Carolyn Oppedahl of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Wendell Monson; and a sister, Wilma Wachholz.
Lentz Funeral Home of Livermore is serving the family. Eldon's services will be live streamed thru the Lentz Funeral Home website, www.lentzfuneralhome.com.

I am so sorry to hear that Eldon passed away. I visited with him about 2 years ago in Humboldt. I am so glad I was able to that. Slink and I had the same motorcycle after I bought the 49 Harley from his neighbor down the road Pete Malkmus. They were both 49 Harley 61 cube Hydra-Glides. He and I talked about them 2 years ago. Slink sold his to a contractor in Cedar Falls. I say his at the Antique Acres show and I asked the guy where he got it. He told me and I told him, that I knew Slink and I recognized it after 50 plus years. I also was a member of the Good Luck Saddle Club. I have good memories of those days. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
