Eldon Niehaus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kalmer Memorial Services on Jan. 21, 2026.
Eldon "Spanky" Niehaus Jr. was born October 26, 1961 in Litchfield, IL. He is the son of the late Eldon Niehaus and Elaine Seward (Cruthis). Spanky attended Greenville High School. After high school, he joined the United States Army. Following this, he relocated to Colorado where he enjoyed rock climbing and white-water rafting.

Spanky met his wife, Michelle, in 1993 and they were married July 23, 2007. Together, they have three children, Logan, Maggie, and Hunter. He spent many years working for the painters union before eventually starting his own business, Niehaus Construction. Spanky took much pride in his work, and to many was known as "painter". He loved to teach others about the skills of drywall and painting.

Spanky was an avid deer hunter and mushroom hunter, and he enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. Spanky never missed his kids' sporting events, spending years cheering them on through basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and soccer games. He cherished spending time with his grandkids, and was lovingly referred to as "Gramps". Spanky is remembered by many for always having a smile on his face.

Spanky is survived by his wife, Michelle (Dodds) Niehaus; children: Logan (Curtis) Timmermann of Aviston, Maggie Niehaus and Hunter Niehaus of Greenville; grandchildren: Cooper Timmermann and Charlotte Timmermann; siblings: Donald (Linda) Niehaus of Piedmont, MO, Ronald (Susan) Niehaus of Irving, IL, and Ramona (Jim) Mollett of Greenville, IL. He is preceded in death by his father and brother Keith "Wormy" Niehaus.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 31st from 11 am-3:30 pm at the Saint Nicholas Catholic Hall in Pocahontas, IL. The family extends an invitation to all family and friends to join them while they celebrate Spanky's life.
