Larry Dean Sussenbach, age 63, of
Greenville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by his family after bravely battling cancer for the past 4 years.
Larry was born December 13, 1962, in
Greenville, Illinois, the son of Harry Dee and Frances Louise (Gaffner) Sussenbach. He married Sheri (Ficklin) Sussenbach on October 1, 1988, and they shared 38 years together. Together they had two children, Jordyn and Tanner, both of Greenville.
He was a lifelong resident of our community. In 1981, he graduated from Greenville High school.
He retired, in December 2025, after dedicating 40 plus years, as a Parts Counter man for Ford dealerships. Larry took great pride in providing the best service to all his customers.
Larry was a saver, collector and gatherer. He loved to save everything because everything had a use. If you needed something, it was in one of the sheds. The challenge lied in finding it among the organized chaos.
He enjoyed old-school country music and was an avid bowler, washer thrower, and bags thrower.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry D. and Frances Sussenbach; a sister in infancy, Sue Carol Sussenbach, a sister Dianne Dee (Jerry) Jackson; maternal grandparents, Carl & Ethel Gaffner; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Winnie Sussenbach.
Surviving Larry are his wife, Sheri Sussenbach of
Greenville, Illinois; children, Jordyn (Tyler) Young, Greenville, and Tanner (Lauren) Sussenbach, Greenville; grandchildren, Alita, Aliza and Hesston Dean 'HD' Sussenbach; brothers, Max (Jo) Sussenbach, of Greenville and Mike (Martha) Sussenbach, of Greenville.
The family will host a public celebration of life, at the Greenville VFW, Post 1377, 2043 S. 4th St.,
Greenville, IL 62246, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 4:00 pm. Food will be provided and a special remembrance speech will be delivered at 6:00 pm.
The family requests no flowers, plants, or other gifts and asks that memorials be given in Larry's memory.
Memorials may be given at the celebration of life or mailed to: Greenville Junior High Softball and Baseball Programs, Greenville Junior High, 1200 Junior High Drive,
Greenville, IL 62246.
Larry was a laid back, casual guy and would want his celebration of life to be the same; so, please, wear jeans to his celebration of life.
The family has entrusted Assalley Funeral Home in Greenville with the arrangements.
