Beverly Ellsworth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Assalley-Young Funeral Home - Greenville on Feb. 17, 2026.
Beverly 'Babe' Ann (Hatfield) Ellsworth, 89, of Greenville, Illinois, was born December 1, 1936, in Wynona, Osage County, Oklahoma.

Her parents Anna (Ward) Hatfield (Tahlequah, Oklahoma) and Jack Hatfield (Hominy, Oklahoma) and three siblings, Marguerite Hatfield Lewallen, Della Hatfield Borror, and Jackie Hatfield (all deceased) moved around to various oil fields in the Midwest before settling in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, where Beverly attended high school. She enjoyed riding horseback with her good friend, Maxine Sugg, north of Mulberry Grove.

She met Ronald "Dean" Ellsworth, a young energetic farm boy, son of Lura M. (English) Ellsworth & Granvil Loyd Ellsworth of Mulberry Grove (deceased). They attended the 1953 Mulberry Grove High School prom.

Beverly "Babe" Ann Hatfield and Ronald "Dean" Ellsworth was married on March 11,1953 in Greenville, Illinois for 69 years, until his passing on July 8, 2022.

They lived as newlyweds, very briefly, in Peoria, Illinois, while Ronald "Dean" looked for work. After which, they moved to oil country, in Snyder, Texas, for a short time, where Beverly became a homemaker and mother to Jackie 'Jack' Dean, born in 1954 and husband of Susan L. of Greenville, before moving to Odessa, Texas and having a daughter, Billye Jean Ouimete, born in 1955, now living in Arnold, Missouri. Beverly worked at Picadilly Cafeteria, Odessa, then the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, then back to Odessa, having a son Robert Loyd in 1960, who now lives in Greenville with his wife, Vicki J. After having a son Loran Gorman, in 1964, and husband of Betty, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, they moved back home to Mulberry Grove in the fall of1967.

Beverly worked at various nursing homes as an aid in the area, Sunnydale, Fair Oaks, Hillview. She always enjoyed window shopping and bowling on the Midwest Commodities Team at the Greenville Bowl.

Together, she and Ronald Dean moved to Springfield, Illinois, in 1986 and soon after, to Sherman, Illinois, where Ronald Dean resided, until his passing July 8, 2022.

Beverly moved to Greenville, residing at the Glenwood Assisted Living, and then to Hickory Memory Care where she passed peacefully, surrounded by her children, on February 14, 2026.

After their retirement, Ronald Dean & "Babe Ann" (her youth nickname) spent their golden years at their Sherman home or traveling with camper in tow. After a few years, they parked their camper on Robert's small farm on Governor Bond Lake, in Greenville, where they enjoyed attending grandchildren's graduations, the granddaughter's school sporting events, and fishing with the grandkids a few weeks every summer or catching a 'whopper,' as Dean witnessed, and then having a family gathering fish fry. They tended to five miniature horses, which would occasionally be found out on the county highway – the 'Red Ball Trail,' with a 4-wheeler or a golf cart in chase, usually while Ronald Dean tended to the mowing.

They found Athens Christian Church, in Athens, Illinois, where they worshiped for many years, enjoyed fellowship and sharing many potluck meals with friends.

Over the 69 years together, Beverly utilized her compassionate skills to care for her family, whether it was burned welding eyes, ear infections or broken bones and hip replacements. But most of all, she hovered over Ronald Dean through any health issues to see that he was getting the best care, often using her own nursing home skills.

Beverly (Babe) Ann Ellsworth enjoyed her family gatherings with 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren most of all. Once gathering on the infield of the Indianapolis Speedway for a family group picture, annually, on the 4th of July, Thanksgiving (with the Dallas Cowboys) and of course, her favorite, having all the family come in for Christmas Day.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, sisters, and brother.

Surviving Babe Ann are her children, Jack (Susan L.) Ellsworth of Greenville, Illinois, Billye Ouimette of Arnold, Missouri, Robert (Vicki) Ellsworth of Greenville, Illinois, Loran (Betty) of Beavercreek, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, the family suggests memorials may be given at the church, during the visitation or mailed, after the service, to the First Church of Christ, PO Box 88, Mulberry Grove, IL 62262 and/or the Mulberry Grove Cemetery, Village of Mulberry Grove, PO Box 8, Mulberry Grove, Illinois 62262.

Visitation: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm., Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the First Church of Christ, 405 N. Maple St., Mulberry Grove, IL 62262.
