Eldon Ray Tharpe, age 78 of Parkers Crossroads, TN passed away on October 1, 2025, at Cypress Grove hospice in Jackson, TN. Pastor Eldon Tharpe affectionately known as "Uncle Jack" and "Campground Tharpe" was born on March 3, 1947, in Camden, TN to Noble Tharpe, Sr and Gertrude Tharpe.
Eldon Ray graduated from Webb High School of McKenzie TN and shortly thereafter enlisted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. After years of service he returned home where he met and married Opal Mae Tharpe to which they had two children, Corey Tyrone Tharpe and Lawanda Michelle Tharpe. After the untimely death of Opal Tharpe, Eldon continued to work at DuPont in New Johnsonville, TN where he was a supervisor for many years upon retiring after 34 years of employment. Eldon Ray later met and married Alma Tharpe and in 2004 he began pastoring at Williams Grove Missionary Church up until 2022.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Alma Tharpe of Parker's Crossroad, TN; son Corey (Crystal) Tharpe of McKenzie, TN; grandson, Corey Monrey (Toni) Tharpe of McKenzie, TN, granddaughter, Octavia Moore of McKenzie, TN. Granddaughters, Breannidy Miller of Dover. TN and Madison Miller of Nashville, TN; Sister, Earline Tharpe of Camden, TN and Aunt Annie Williams of Paris, TN.
Special nieces and nephews, Saletta (Walter) Holloway of Nashville, TN; Charlotte Tharpe of Camden, TN, Jeffry (Barb) Tharpe of Nashville, TN, Alvin Travis of Dickson, TN, Melissa (Steve) Turner of Waverly, TN and Vicki (Damion) McKissick of Nashville, TN; Lisa (Joey) Tharpe of San Diego. CA; Hankie Tharpe of San Diego, CA, Noble Calhoun of St Louis, MS and Nick Leasure of St Louis, MS
