Eldon Thomas Woodall, of Pima, entered life eternal Saturday, June 14, 2025, with his two daughters, Loni and Kelli, at his side. Eldon was then reunited with his beloved eternal companion, Karol Lyn, who passed away in 2023.
Eldon was born August 6, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised in Kearns, UT as the second-oldest child of Clifford and Merna Woodall's nine children. He met Karol Lyn Lunt while attending Brigham Young University, working at the library together. They were married at the Mesa, Arizona temple on February 8, 1979. They were devotedly married for 44 years.
What Eldon loved most was his family. Spending time with and caring for the needs of all his immediate and extended family was the greatest priority of his life. He took special pride in encouraging his daughters to chase their dreams and celebrated every one of their accomplishments. He was also especially enamored by his grandchildren, Lily and Cole, and treasured all memories created with them.
Eldon's extraordinary love for family was reflected by the meaningful traditions he helped create and uphold. Every Thanksgiving, he happily barbecued 80 turkeys in his pit; and each Christmas, he lit up the season with an enormous light display to music (inviting all to come be with his family). Outside of family, Eldon always made time to help others and was a tremendous source of support, encouragement, and counsel for anyone in need. He was a dear and trusted friend to all who knew him. Eldon was one of the most positive, astute, compassionate, committed, and generous individuals one could ever meet.
Eldon's faith in Jesus Christ and service to his family, friends, and neighbors were the foundation of his life. He served in humility and with great dedication in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including as Bishop, Ward and Stake Presidency Clerk, Temple Worker, and Executive Assistant to an Area Seventy Authority. Eldon was very fond of his experiences in his youth working on Angel Moroni and oxen sculptures for the church's temples, performing in the Hill Cumorah Pageant, and serving a mission in Switzerland and France. Through these early experiences, Eldon developed a firm testimony of the Savior and the plan of salvation, a heartfelt devotion to serving others; and from his mission, a lifelong enthusiasm for studying and speaking French fluently. Even up until the time of his passing, Eldon was serving remotely a French-speaking mission online managing financial accounts for the Cameroon and Brazzaville, Africa areas. He also was actively serving his community on the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center Board of Directors and played a key role in the growth of the hospital and its expanding services to our valley.
Eldon enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, dutch oven cooking, exploring the great outdoors, and admiring nature around him. However, Eldon's primary passion outside his family and the church was for drafting and architecture. He loved composing house plans and facilitating construction projects. He took pride in the ongoing renovations of his own home. Throughout his over four-decade career, as the Business Manager for Ft. Thomas Schools and Grant Writer at Eastern Arizona College, Eldon was monumental in generating and utilizing funding to expand these campuses and their programs. He additionally participated in financial consultation for nearly all the schools in Graham County, led the GEAR UP grant and other vocational programs, and mentored many youth and colleagues onto career paths. Eldon was very influential, dearly loved, admired, appreciated, and will be greatly missed.
Eldon is survived by: his daughters, Loni Sanders (Brett), and Kelli Uhrich; grandchildren, Lily and Cole; his brothers and sisters, Myra, Doug, Jeff, Andrea, and Janet. Eldon was preceded in death by: his wife, Karol Lyn; his mother and father, and his brothers Brent, Daniel, and Dennis.
Funeral services for Eldon will be conducted Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Pima Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Lee Haws of the Pima 5th Ward Bishopric conducting and President Channen Day presiding. Concluding services will follow in the Pima Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Monday morning, June 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., in the Pima Stake Center Relief Society Room of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
