Eldridge Bernard Otis, Junior was born February 12, 1956, age 69, and lived in Powder Springs, Georgia. Eldridge died unexpectedly on September 23, 2025 at his home. He was born and spent most of this life in his home state of Mobile, Alabama and his career and professional life in Birmingham, Alabama and New Jersey. While in Birmingham, Eldridge was employed with Alabama Power/Southern Company as an engineer. After several years with Alabama Power, he took a position with AT&T. Eldridge worked as an engineer, project manager, computer programmer and contract lawyer. He dedicated 35 years of his career to AT&T, where his skills, commitment and expertise as an Electrical Engineer, Project Manager, Programmer and legal assistance left a lasting mark. A proud resident of New Jersey for 37 years, he was also a member of MENSA, reflecting his lifelong passion for knowledge, innovation, and excellence. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Clare Wesley Jemison Wilson Otis; his sister, Kinsanthel Wilson Manzy; his brother, Rudolph C. Wilson; and his great aunt, Clara Simpson. Eldridge leaves behind cherished memories for those who survive him: brothers, Randolph Wilson of Holt, Florida and Paul Otis of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; his close cousin, Violetta "Natta" Simpson of Mobile, Alabama; and nieces, Cassandra (Will) Manning of Chula Vista, California, and Charlene (Ron) Stewart of Jacksonville, Florida ; nephew, Brazzill (JoAnn) Wilson of Mobile, Alabama; and a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends; devoted friend, Deborah Clarke; and goddaughter, Dr. Alicia Clarke Shelly and Anthony Shelly, III of Powder Springs, Georgia. Eldridge will be remembered for his brilliant mind, quiet strength, quick sense of humor, and the love of his family and friends. Eldridge's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew him. A memorial service honoring Eldridge's life will be held Friday, October 3, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM before the service. Repast immediately following the memorial service.
