Eleanor Ashley Obituary
June graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1952. She worked a few years for the State of Kansas in the Vital Records Dept. in Topeka, KS and Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton, KS. After moving to Denison, KS, June owned and operated Ashley Upholstery for over 20 years.
She attended bible study at Denison Bible Church and was a quilting enthusiast.
On June 27, 1953, Eleanor was united in marriage to Sammy L. Ashley in Tucumcari, NM. They shared over 62 years of marriage before Sammy passed away on November 10, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Thelma Herring; 6 sisters, Mary F. Robison, Eva Rasch, Lynette Fleming, Leola McLain, Ruth Baker and Helen Sheldon and 3 brothers, Jay, James and Leonard Herring.
Survivors include her sons, Randall Ashley of Hutchison, KS, Sammy K. Ashley (Fe) of Denison, KS and Tim Ashley (Leslie) of Denison, KS; a daughter, Jana Harrison (Roger) of Leavenworth, KS; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Valley Falls Cemetery. June will lie in state Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Faith Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
