Eleanor K. "Ellie" Bacon of Reading, a former long time Lynnfield resident died Saturday September 6 after a lengthy illness ate age 73.

Born in Cambridge on August 18, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Richard & Catherine (Brown) Garrity. She was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1953.

She had been a reading resident since 2005. She was a long time employee of Filene's of Peabody and was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Lynnfield.

Mrs. Bacon was the wife of the late Herbert Bacon. She was the mother of Karen Mendonca & husband Joseph of Danvers, Stephen Bacon & wife Julie of Wilmington and Kevin Bacon Woburn. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kyle, Sarah & Lindsey Bacon and Katelyn Mendonca. She is pre-deceased by her brother Richard Garrity.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Wednesday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Maria Goretti Church 112 Chestnut St. Lynnfield at 10:00. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 4-8 PM. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
