Eleanor Joyce Jeffers, 85, of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away Jan. 4, 2025, at Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart, Indiana, peacefully with family at her side.
She was born in Millgrove, Indiana, to the late Ralph and Ruby Crawford in March 1939. Eleanor was a 1956 graduate of Dunkirk High School. She married Omer ("Don") Jeffers in January 1963. Following his passing in March 1982, she found love again and married Sam Jeffers in June 1985, losing him in September 2006.
Eleanor was formerly employed by Armstrong Cork Co., Marraines Greenhouse, Pak-a-Sak, Indiana Glass and First State Bank, all of Dunkirk, Indiana. She faithfully attended Bethel United Methodist Church, at Ridertown for approximately 50 years and was a former member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary-Dunkirk, American Legion Auxiliary-Dunkirk and Career Women's Club-Dunkirk.
She enjoyed spending time with family, baking and was known for her delicious pies, gardening and loved flowers, various creative crafts including painting, quilting and crochet and spending winters in Florida.
Eleanor is survived by daughter Valerie (Dale) Graber, Elkhart, Indiana; son Jim Jeffers (Leslie Winkler), Millersburg, Indiana; grandchildren Zachary (Melissa) Jeffers, Goshen, Indiana, Kylie Beehler (Matthew Chisholm), Millersburg, Indiana; and great-grandchildren Trinity Chisholm, Madilynn Chisholm, Brycyn Beehler, Bella Chisholm, Lemon Jeffers and Journi Chisholm. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; sisters Ruth Kaye, Wanda Luzadder, Mary North and Irma Nuckols; and brothers Loyd Crawford, Paul Crawford, Stanley Crawford and Steve Crawford.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mount Tabor Community Church, 216 W. Pleasant St., Dunkirk, IN 47336. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will be held in Black Cemetery, Albany, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
