Eleanor Amelia White Jones (Ellen), of Jackson, NC, passed away the early morning of August 18, 2025 at the age of 80.

Ellen was born in Baltimore, MD on Feburary 21, 1945. Her family moved to Colerain, NC where she spent her grade school years. She received her BS degree form Meredith College in Raleigh, majoring in Sociology and spent her career working with Northampton County Department of Social Services and Halifax County Mental Health Center as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, specializing in child services. She attended Jackson Baptist Church where she served as a deacon and played

piano.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Vernon L. Jones (Meanie) of Jackson, NC; her daughter, Ginger B. Riley and husband, John and children Anna and Jack of Durham, NC; her son, Coy Bell, III of Jackson and his wife,Tracy and children, Tyler and Garrett; her brother, Joseph R. White, Jr. and his wife, Judyth of Greensboro NC and nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph R. White, Sr. and Eleanor A. White of Colerain NC, and her sister Elizabeth W. King of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Ellen's service will be held at Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
