ELEANOR R. "ELLIE" MCCARTHY

McCARTHY, Eleanor R. "Ellie" Age 93, of Milton, formerly of Dorchester and Braintree, passed away peacefully, on Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved daughter of the late Charles and Anna (McMullen) McCarthy. Devoted sister of Charles and his wife, Denise (Creamer) McCarthy of Braintree, the late Anne L. McCarthy of Milton and the late Mary and her late husband, Peter Svirsky of Marshfield. Cherished aunt of Sean McCarthy of Braintree, Christine McCarthy of Dorchester, Michelle and her husband, Michael Hume of Braintree, Michael Svirsky and his longtime partner, HoSze To of South Boston and the late Peter and his surviving wife, Darlene Svirsky of Marshfield. Adoring great-aunt of Charlie Hume of Brooklyn, NY and Fiona Hume and Molly Hume of Braintree. Graduate of St. Ann School in Neponset, Matignon High School in Cambridge and Newbury College. Customer service manager at Boston Edison for 40 years and on the Board of Directors of the Boston Edison Credit Union for 30 years. Her favorite things: lifelong friends, traveling the world, playing bridge, outings to casinos, fabulous parties, drinking Manhattans or Martinis or Chardonnay, devouring the Boston Globe, cheering for the Patriots and socializing at Fuller Village coffee hour. She was a proud Democrat, who lamented the state of our government until her final days. Eleanor cherished her independence and was able to remain in her own home because of the devotion of her companion, Carmel O'Flaherty, whose unwavering attentiveness and patience made Eleanor feel safe and secure. Special thanks to Maria for looking after El on the weekends and to Barbara and Jane for keeping an eye on El from across the hall. Visitation, Saturday, April 12, 9:00 – 10:00 am, Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, at St. Agatha Parish, 432 Adams St., Milton.
