Eleanor Stroud Miles, 96, passed away of natural causes, February 10th, 2022.
Eleanor was born December 8th, 1925, in Rosedale, south of Salem. She was proud to be from her small `town of red clay` and lived her entire life in Salem.
After graduating from Salem High School she studied to be a nurse and married the love of her life, Rodney Miles, in Greensboro, North Carolina, June 1944. They most recently celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary. Rodney passed away in 2020.
In her early years she helped with the family orchards, worked at Montgomery Wards, Salem Linen Company and studied to be a nurse. After the war they returned to Oregon and Eleanor supported her husband`s career and became a full-time Mom at home.
She played a part in all four son`s lives making sure everyone made their ball games, concerts, day of picking strawberries/beans and delivery of the newspaper routes.
She was first in line to assist at school functions, help teachers and help establish the first March of Dimes. She enjoyed watching sports, never missed an opportunity to spend time at the Oregon beach and volunteering at the Salem Hospital.
Family was first and foremost to Eleanor, as a loving wife, Mom, sister, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing was more important than her family time. She enjoyed playing the piano, was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting and helping with the kids Sunday school classes.
She is survived by her four sons; Terry (Gayna), Mike (Sandra), Rod (Corby), and Greg (Cherri), eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A private family graveside service is planned. A reception will be held at a later date.

I always loved and admired Eleanor. She was the perfect example of a Mother and Wife. She and Rod would babysit our kids and did so much more for us over the years. My Husband loved Rodcand enjoyed working for him at the newspaper. Eleanor was a sweetheart. She had a sense of humor, too!
When my husband was in the hospital Rod visited him and promptly fainted right down on the floor. I came to visit my husband and there was Rod in the next bed!
Eleanor had surgery & I went to visit her in the hospital. Eleanor was laughing! She said, "Linda, Rodney did it again!" "He was just here and passed out on the floor!"
I look forward to seeing you again, Eleanor, in heaven.
Well share a cup of tea
