Eleanor A. (Murphy) O'Connor, age 95, of East Bridgewater and formerly of East Weymouth, died peacefully on Oct. 20th while surrounded by her family. Ellie was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Koe) Murphy and grew up in Dorchester. She was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Class of 1948. In the early 1950s, Ellie met Jack O'Connor at a rollerskating rink, whom she would marry on June 21, 1953, after he returned from Korea. The two settled in East Weymouth, where they raised their children. Ellie was a fantastic mother who adored her children. She taught everyone around her the importance of values, respect, tradition, and, most of all, love. She loved hosting Christmas Eve and Fourth of July parties. Her chicken salad made her famous, and when asked why it was always so good, her response was "It was made with love".
Ellie was a lifelong advocate for her children, especially Patty, as her needs and comfort would always come first. As Ellie got older, spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, was always the highlight of her week. Ellie also loved walking, reading, and most importantly, being a sweetheart to everyone she met. She will be remembered for her generosity and for making a positive difference in people's lives through her kindness and love.
Eleanor was the loving wife of 62 years to the late John T. O'Connor. Devoted mother of Jack T. O'Connor and his wife Jan of Middleboro, Patty A. O'Connor of East Bridgewater, David M. O'Connor and his wife Joanne of Sandwich, Amy S. Reddington of East Bridgewater, and the late Timothy F. O'Connor and his wife Charlene O'Connor of Abington. Loving "Gramma" of Heather, Sean, Michael, Kaelyn, Kevin, Ryan, Laura, Timothy, Abby, Craig, Everett, and Lucas. Great "G.G." of Liberty, Meadow, Kevin, Liam, Shea, Addie, Caden, Kennedy, Matthew, and Isla. Sister of Alice Molignano of Weymouth and her late husband John, and the late Dorothy Nickerson and her late husband Bill, and the late Joseph Murphy and his wife Mary of Weymouth. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
