Eleanor Ingrid Nelson was born April 2, 1934 in Elberta, Utah to Alof and Hilda Nelson. She was the youngest child having two older sisters, Norene and Kathleen and a brother Ray. They were happy and had very little. Not having many conveniences, we now have.
Ellie graduated from Payson High School in 1952. Continuing on to attend Cosmetology School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She married Wilford Glenn Cannon in 1953 and they lived in Ephraim, Utah. Glenn would be in school off and on while working until 1970. This led to many moves: Utah, Washington, West Virginia, California, back to Utah, back to California. They had six children Deborah, Douglas, Bruce, Craig, Corene and Curtis. Mom cut hair, ironed and babysat for many years to help with the family income. Then ended up getting divorced in 1979.
She soon met Theo Mark Rayner on an arranged date by a dear friend. They were married in three weeks on December 6, 1979. They had both lost a son and each had 5 living children. Six children were married, three lived at home and one was away in Utah. To their delight everyone got along.
They built two home together and were very well paired for each other. They did everything together and shared in all things, including welcoming each new grandchild.
Most of their travels were to see children and grandchildren, as their children lived from California to New York. They did go on a trip to Europe and to South Africa where Theo was born.
They served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One at the Genealogy and Family History Center and then in an inner-city mission, helping with many families. Theo passed away just before their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
Mom had many talents. One of them was knitting. She knit many Christmas stockings for children, their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, and great grandchildren. They remain treasured gifts.
She was and is loved by many. There will be a wonderful reunion with those who had passed before her. Happy Journey Mom!
Ellie is survived by her children Daborah Canon Siddoway (Thane), Bruce Neil Cannon (Elizabeth), Craig Cole Cannon (Dee), Corene Cannon Johnson (Benjamin), Curtis Cannon (Amy), Karen Rayner Nickell (Bruce), Cathy Rayner Martin (Richard), Jennifer Rayner Clark (Steve), Pamela Rayner McDonald (Daniel). 37 Grandchildren, 84 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Theo Mark Rayner, parents Alof and Hilda Nelson, children Douglas Glenn Cannon, John Rayner and Beth Rayner Jones. Granddaughter Sarah Jones, brother Ray Nelson, and her sister Norene Bishop.
