Eleanor Simkus Obituary

Eleanor R. Simkus

06/27/1939 - 07/27/2024

Eleanor "Ellie" R. Simkus, 85, is at peace and in God's loving arms. Her vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She passed away peacefully at Genoa Retirement Village on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Helen Okos; her husband, John "Jack" A. Simkus; and her two sisters and brother, Helen Rose, Dorothy, and Ernest.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Simkus, Jacqueline (Jeff) Conley, Kelly Simkus, Bruce Simkus; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins.

Ellie dearly loved her family, and was a devout Catholic. She proudly served alongside her husband, Jack, who served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. She loved family gatherings, cooking, gardening, and shopping.

No formal services were held. A special thank you to Dr. Odeh and staff, the St. Charles Mercy Hospital nursing staff, and Genoa Retirement Village nursing staff.

My condolences to you and your siblings. Back in the '80s, I meet your Mother at your home off Woodville Rd. I hung out a lot with a mutual friend, Mary Zachel You and I drove down to see the Cincinnati Reds play. I saw the notice today, I thought of you and Tom who I knew from ROTC. Even though it has been 40+ years later, I still can remember Tom n Kelly.
My sincere condolences.
