Eleanor Louise “Ganny” Stewart, age 65, of Uhrichsville, died peacefully, early Saturday, November 29, 2025, while surrounded by her family while under the care of SouthernCare Hospice.
Born in Covington, Louisiana on December 31, 1959, Eleanor was a daughter to Karen Allen of Newcomerstown and the late Robert Allen.
She grew up on the family farm in Peoli, Ohio and attended Indian Valley South High School. On June 15, 1984, she married John H. Stewart and together they raised their family of six children.
Eleanor worked for a number of years in the restaurant industry spending much of her time as a waitress at Jerry’s in Uhrichsville. She enjoyed crafting, diamond art projects, baking, and cooking. She was especially known for her delicious Cajun dishes of red beans and white beans. Eleanor also enjoyed a special inside joke with her grandchildren regarding flamingos which ultimately lead to her starting a treasured flamingo collection.
In addition to her husband, John, of 41 years, Eleanor is survived by her children, Chad Williams of Canal Futon, Jennifer (Chris Myers) Williams of Uhrichsville, Amber (Dale) Cowans of Newcomerstown, Nathan Baker of Summit County, and John (Candy) Stewart of New Philadelphia. Completing the family are 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Bobbie Sue, and Carol; brothers, Harry and Robert, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father Eleanor was preceded in death by a son, Danny Garabrandt, and a brother, Jerry.
A memorial service celebrating Eleanor’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Pastor Aaron Linard officiating. The family will greet guests from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
