Eleanor Theresa Froelich (Brake), age 86, of Albany, formerly of Ward Springs, died peacefully at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home on Friday, January 12, 2018 in Albany, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Edward Vebelun, O.S.B. officiating. Entombment will be at the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. and Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. Eleanor Theresa Brake was born February 26, 1931, in Ward Springs in Birchdale Township, Todd County to Frank and Caroline (Feldewerd) Brake. On September 19, 1950, she married Michael Froelich in Ward Springs. The couple lived in Albany all their married lives. Eleanor was a cook at Holy Family School in Albany for about ten years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting and gardening. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Eleanor was an active member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers in Albany. Survivors include her husband, Michael; two daughters, Mary (Mark) Monroe of Melrose and Donna (Brad) Blaha of Shakopee; grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Monroe, Lisa (Christopher) Atkinson, Amanda (Amanda) Kaiser-Lee, Anthony Kaiser, and Melissa (Matthew) Crea; six great-grandchildren with one due in February; sisters, Sr. Helen Ann Brake, O.S.F. of Little Falls and Laura Zenzen of Melrose; sisters-in-law, Barb Brake of Minneapolis and Helen Brake of Ward Springs; and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Caroline Brake; brothers, John Brake, Bernard Brake, Henry Brake, and infant brother, Lawrence Brake; sisters, Clara Rahn, Irene Parish, and Marie Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Herman Rahn, Louis Parish, August Schmidt, and Ray Zenzen. Serving as casket bearers will be Gregory Monroe, Anthony Kaiser, Tom Dumont, Eric Willenbring, Larry Brake, and Kurt Zenzen. Cross bearer will be Amanda Kaiser-Lee and scripture bearer will be Christopher Atkinson. Gift bearers will be her great-grandchildren. Eulogy will be by the family and read by Christopher Atkinson.

My sympathies to you Mike, MaryAnne and Donna on the passing of your mother. I have found memories of when we used to visit years ago. Eleanor was always friendly and kind. May she rest in peace.
